Your studies at the Medical University of Varna
The 6-year programme comprises 10 semesters and one year of state pre-internship. The Faculty of Medicine offers students access to state-of-the-art facilities such as Blackboard (a virtual learning programme as 3D software), virtual 3D anatomical models and clinical facilities in Varna and the surrounding area, including hospitals and medical centres. Due to its strong tradition in research and education, the medical university is able to offer students a practice-orientated education in Bulgarian and English during their studies. Due to its English-language study programmes, it attracts a large number of international students. The Medical University of Varna is recognised by the Bulgarian government and the World Health Organization and offers its graduates the opportunity to pursue their careers anywhere in the European Union, the European Economic Area, Australia and beyond.
This medical degree programme is particularly attractive for German school leavers who prefer to study medicine in English, who are unable to find a place to study in Germany or who would like to study in an international environment. The opportunity to study in English also makes it easier to work in an international environment after graduation. Tuition fees are also significantly lower for students compared to other countries.

Admission procedure for studying medicine at the Medical University of Varna
In order to be admitted to a degree programme at the Medical University of Varna, applicants must fulfil certain requirements when applying. These include tests in the subjects of chemistry and biology, in which applicants must answer questions from different categories. These questions include multiple-choice questions, fill-in-the-blank questions, matching questions, true/false questions, definitions and explanations. The tests last 1 hour and 30 minutes each and can take place on one or different days during the application period. It is important to note that no points are deducted for incorrect answers, however if candidates tick more than one answer they will not receive any points for that question.
The biology and chemistry tests consist of a total of five sections, each containing different tasks. Section A consists of multiple-choice questions in which candidates have to choose one of four answers. Section B contains fill-in-the-blank questions where candidates have to fill in four missing words or terms. Section C requires candidates to compare terms from column 1 with those in column 2. Section D contains true/false questions where candidates have to evaluate whether the statement is true or false. Finally, section E contains definitions and explanations where the participants have to explain chemical or biological concepts and provide examples if necessary.
