The Faculty of Human Medicine at Jessenius University in Martin has now been in existence for 52 years. The faculty was founded in 1969 and is now an independent part of the traditional and internationally renowned Comenius University in Bratislava. Internationally and globally recognised degree programmes in English have been offered since 1991. Today, students at the Jessenius Faculty can complete a degree programme in human medicine. Who Study dentistry Unfortunately, if you want to study dentistry, you're out of luck: there are no places on offer.

The degree programme is based on a long tradition that allows students from more than 25 countries to apply for a 6-year medical degree programme every year. The Faculty of Medicine at Jessenius University in Martin is one of the best medical faculties in Slovakia and has repeatedly received the prestigious award from the Academic Ranking and Rating Agency.

Studying medicine in Martin at the Jessenius Faculty

In order to successfully complete a semester, students must earn 30 ECTS points (credit points). Over the entire study period of six years, this results in 360 ECTS points, which must be achieved in order to successfully complete the programme.

As with most medical faculties, training at the Jessenius Faculty also includes a strict curriculum. There are small weekly tests in most subjects to keep students up to date. The compulsory courses (practicals) are held in groups of 10 - so you always have the best possible chance of success. Contact us with the teaching professors or doctors.

The small groups are formed in the first semester and continue until you graduate. This means you study together and make friends for life. Lectures, on the other hand, are held jointly for all students in a year group.

Admission procedure

In order to start your dream degree programme in Martin, you have to overcome one last hurdle in the application process. Applicants must successfully pass the entrance exam. The entrance exam takes the form of a written single-choice test consisting of an equal number of biology and chemistry questions. The content of the entrance test does not exceed the content of a complete secondary school education in the subjects of biology and chemistry.

If it's been a while since you were at school or if you didn't take one of the two subjects in the sixth form, there's no need to worry.
